Calculations
HockEyes derives a small set of summary numbers from official standings data. This page explains exactly how each one is computed, using only visible, non-proprietary arithmetic.
Dashboard overview
Played Matches
Played Matches = sum of each team's played-match total across the competition's standings, divided by two (each match involves two teams, so this avoids double-counting).
Total Goals
Total Goals = sum of "goals for" across every team row in the standings.
Weighted Goals / Match
Weighted Goals / Match = total goals scored across the selected competitions, divided by total played matches across those same competitions. "Weighted" means competitions with more played matches contribute proportionally more to the average, rather than every competition counting equally.
Example
If a competition has 40 played matches and 180 goals for across all teams, Weighted Goals / Match for that competition is 180 / 40 = 4.5.

Pro-only analytics (lineup impact, player intelligence, experimental predictions) use additional modeling that isn't listed here. Those features are labeled as Pro or experimental in the product.
